Data collection tools
We collected most of the data manually in Google Sheets. We used automated services only to evaluate the SEO parameters of websites.

PORTRAIT OF FRANCHISES
During the study, we analyzed 633 franchises from different industries. This is the first sample, which was made randomly. We assessed this sample by 8 parameters that relate directly to the business.
Next, a second sample was formed from the first one – 100 franchises out of 633 were selected for a more detailed study from the point of view of Internet marketing. The second sample was additionally assessed by 13 parameters. Selection criteria for the second sample:
Group 1 (80%) - small franchises taking into account the parameters:
year of franchise launch (not younger than 2 years and not older than 10);
From 10 to 300 franchises are open.
Group 2 (20%) - large franchises taking into account the parameters:
300 or more franchises have been opened;
To get an idea of which franchises were included in the second sample, we compiled an average portrait of two groups of franchises:
